How to Homebrew: Extract
By HomeBrewing.com Staff
We've created this pictograph of the extract homebrew process to help beginner brewers visualize the extract brewing process. There are many different ways to brew with extracts, but this is one of the most common for the hobby.
Malt extract is the dried sugars extracted from malted barley and comes in liquid and dry forms. Extract home brewing is a great way for beginners to get familiar with the brewing process and you only need a few pieces of equipment to get started. We have some great beginner brewer kits that come with everthing you need. You can brew great extract beers, but eventually it will be useful to learn how to extract the sugars from the malted barley yourself.
See our How to Brew: All Grain to learn how to produce wort from the grain without using any malt extract.
