Our Imperial IPA recipe is a hop lovers dream beer! Imperial IPAs (also known as "double" or "extra" IPAs) are brewed using larger amounts of hops and malts. This beer is not for the faint of heart with it's 9% ABV, and a very strong hop flavor profile made up of 3/4 pound of a variety of hops.
You'll taste an avalanche of glorious citrus from the hops, and with such a high OG, you'll want to use a yeast starter to ensure attenuation, or use another package of yeast.
With 12 ounces of hops being used, plan on starting your fermentation with 5.5 gallons and the hops will do their work by sucking up your precious beer, and in the end, you should have 5 gallons worth to bottle or keg.
